Riding the Waves: a manifesto for thriving in good times and bad
[pic by Alex Jenkins]
When David Hieatt invited me to speak at this year’s The DO Lectures, I knew I didn’t want to give a talk about cancer. I wanted to offer something that would be universal, whether you were sitting in the barn in west Wales or watching online.
So I shared ten life lessons. Not about illness, but about living. They became the heart of my talk: Riding The Waves – a manifesto for thriving in good times and bad.
It’s for anyone learning to navigate change, struggle, or uncertainty—and still choosing to show up with hope.
Thanks very much to Adam Jennings, all round nice bloke and design director at Contour, for bringing my manifesto to life. Adam’s been a familiar face at The Do Lectures for many years; I’m so glad I met him at a Do workshop back in 2019. And it was great to work together on this.
