“I don’t feel guilty, I celebrate it.”
I was really struck by something the journalist Lyse Doucet - who is the BBC's Chief International Correspondent - said at the Financial Times Weekend Festival recently.
She said people often ask her - reporting on wars and trauma, doesn't she feel guilty when she's back home, going out for a nice coffee?
And she told us,
“I don’t feel guilty, I celebrate it.”
Lyse added she doesn't feel guilty because that (being able to go out for an experience like that) is exactly what those people are fighting for. They are fighting for a life worth living. And I loved that.
Thank you Lyse, thanks to Isabel Berwick for hosting.
