It’s how you make them feel

On the surface, you could say I’m in the storytelling business. Or that I’m a trainer who inspires people how to tell stories or how to have a good day at work. But the business I’m actually in is: how I make people feel.

That’s likely true for you too, whether you work in B2B sales or you’re a freelance web designer. It goes without saying that your products and services have to be fit for purpose. But the real reason people hire you or continue to work with you, is most likely because they like you, trust you, believe in you, respect you. They feel something for you. It’s always the experience that counts.

That’s the opportunity for all of us, especially in a world of increased machine dominance and AI.

As David Mattin reminded us in his brilliant talk at this year's DO Lectures, the difference in a world of ubiquitous AI outputs is YOU: your spirit, creativity, passion. AI can’t touch that.

Tune in to how you and your offering make people FEEL. That’s what sets you apart. Focus on that.
